Finding the JSTOR target in Project Settings
- Go to the PROJECT to be published to JSTOR
- Click the PROJECT SETTINGS button
- Select TARGET tab
- Select ADD and choose the JSTOR target
Note: Institutional Logo will be inherited from the institutional landing page.
Selecting the access level for your collection
Choose whether you want the content to be available to anyone on the open web or to users at your institution.

- Choose a name for your collection (required)
- Create a name that is descriptive and specific as possible. While there is no character limit, the ideal length is 80 characters or less.
- Can be edited at any time and updated within seconds.
- Write a description
- Add a description of the collection in 50 words or less and describe your organization in 50 words or less.
- Help researchers understand what’s in the collection. Be concise and clear; write in short sentences and short, scannable blocks. Keep the most important text up front, and focus on one idea per paragraph.
- Upload a representative hero image to represent the collection
- 560 by 400 pixel or larger PNG, JPG, or GIF
- Add a caption including the creator, title, date, media, institution, and copyright.
- Set the maximum download size for image items in the collection or disable downloads for all items. Options include:
- No Downloads - Prevent item downloads for all items in the collection, regardless of content type.
- 400 pixels (JPEG)
- 1024 pixels (JPEG)
- 3000 pixels (JPEG)
- Maximum download size (JPEG) - For image items, the size (in pixels) of the original uploaded image file. Note that the downloaded file format and compression may differ from the original.
Choosing a URL for your collection
- When you choose a custom URL for your Collection, note that this URL is permanent and cannot be edited later.
- Hyphens between words make your collection easier for researchers to find in their search.
- Aa-Zz, 0-9, hyphens "-", and underscores "_" are all accepted characters.
