Customizing your institution and collection pages [Tiers 2-3]

1. Editing your institution page

Users logged in through your institution on JSTOR can visit your institution's landing page by opening the Browse drop-down menu and selecting Your Institution's Collections. This is the entry point for all of your digital collections on JSTOR, institutional and public.

To edit your institution page:

1. Log into JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services with an account that has Institutional Admin permissions.
   
   • Not an admin yet or have questions about managing user access? Contact JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services Support.
2. Open the Admin drop-down menu in the sidebar and select Customize Landing Page.
3. After making your changes, remember to click the Save button.

1a. Institution banner

Choose a single high-resolution image that reflects your institution, such as an image of the campus, library, or students and faculty.

• The banner area dimensions require a horizontal/landscape image orientation.
• Use an image that is clear and is recognizable, with a consistent color and pattern.
• The banner title box will cover the left side of the banner image. So the main focus of the image, if any, should be on the right.

Banner specifications:

• Dimensions: 1440px width x 440px height
• Format: JPG, PNG, GIF
• Resolution: 72dpi (or higher)

1b. Institution description

Start with a brief (one to two-paragraph) description of your institution, followed by a general statement about the types of collections you share. Keep in mind, each collection will have its own description so there's no need to describe collections in detail here.

1c. Institution logo

• Use an image with a white or transparent background.
• The logo area dimensions require a horizontal/landscape image orientation.
• Check your institution's style guide, if appropriate, for official logo options.

Logo specifications:

• Dimensions - 300px width x 150px height
• Format: JPG, PNG, SVG, GIF
• Resolution: 150dpi (or higher)

2. Editing your collection page(s)

To edit a collection page:

1. Log into JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services with an account that has Institutional Admin permissions.
   
   • Not an admin yet or have questions about managing user access? Contact JSTOR Digital Stewardship Services Support.
2. In your project, click the Project Settings button.
3. Under the Targets tab, select the target you want to edit and select Edit.

2a. Collection image

A single high-resolution image that reflects the collection. The collection image will be displayed under the Collections heading on your institution page, as well as on the collection page itself.

• Crop out any borders or decorative edges on the image.
• Include an image caption citing the creator, title, date, media, institution, and copyright. The image caption has a 275-character limit. Example: Jack Bush et al. 1902. The Art Gallery of Ontario. © 2019

Collection image specifications:

• Dimensions: 560px width x 400px height
• Format: JPG, PNG, GIF
• Resolution: 72dpi (or higher)

2b. Collection name

Create a name that is descriptive and specific as possible. While there is no character limit, the ideal length is 80 characters or less.

When creating a new collection, the name you enter will be used to automatically generate the collection's URL. Please note, you can further customize the collection URL when setting up a publishing target and collection names can be changed later without affecting the published URL.

2c. Collection description

Help researchers understand what’s in the collection. Be concise and clear; write in short sentences and short, scannable blocks. Keep the most important text up front, and focus on one idea per paragraph.

• Be aware that the first 122 characters of the description will show up as a preview of the collection on your institutional page.
• The name of the collection will appear immediately above the description, so there's no need to repeat the collection name in the description.
